The practice will be moving back to Ewood Medical Centre following renovation work very soon.
When we re-open, we will be changing to an appointment system for the doctors which will be similar to the one we already have in place for the nurses, and you will need to ring to book an appointment with a doctor. Due to the expected increase in volume of early morning telephone calls by patients ringing for appointments would patients please call for repeat prescriptions or test results after 10.00 a.m. We would like to thank our patients for their understanding and cooperative during the renovation work and for their future help in the transition to an appointment based system.
Ewood and Larkhill surgeries are by appointment only. Patients may either call in or telephone the surgery to make an appointment which can be booked in advance if required. Failure to attend three appointments may result in you being removed from our practice list.
If you require an appointment for a medical problem you feel will not wait until the offered appointment time, please tell the receptionist the symptoms and she will ask the doctor or will ask you to come either at the beginning or the end of the next available surgery but you may be prepared to wait...
To see the practice nurse at both surgeries please either call in or telephone the receptionist who will make an appointment for you.
If you are unable to make your appointment, please cancel it as soon as possible to enable someone else to benefit from it.
If you require a doctor in an emergency between the hours of 6.30pm and 8.00am, weekends and bank holidays, please ring the Emergency Doctor Service. Routine and non urgent matters should wait until the surgery opens.
Home visits can be arranged for patients too ill to attend surgery.
If you feel a home visit is necessary please try to telephone before 10.30am. Only emergency visits will be arranged after that time.
Please give us as much information as possible to enable the doctor to allocate priority. Please do remember that several patients can be seen at the surgery in the time that it takes to do a home visit.
Having no personal transport is NOT an appropriate reason for a home visit.
If you require further supplies of your repeat medication we ask that you give us 24 hours notice. Requests can be taken over the telephone, ideally after 10.00am. Please speak clearly, spelling out the names of the medication if necessary. Many pharmacies now operate a collect and delivery service. Please tell the receptionist whether you wish to collect the prescription from surgery or from a pharmacy. Prescriptions need to be signed for when they are collected from surgery.
